Boeing releases iPad apps for airplane mechanics

SEATTLE -- Boeing announced Tuesday that it released some iPad apps specifically designed to help its airplane mechanics.

The company said the apps would give mechanics quick access to important information like airplane manuals, part numbers and maintenance history. Boeing hoped the apps would speed up repair time which could save money and curb flight delays.

Boeing worked with several airlines in creating the apps, a process that took more than a year.

The company said it would demonstrate the apps this week at an event in London.
