Boeing 787-9 takes maiden voyage

EVERETT -- The Boeing 787-9, a new, larger Dreamliner model, underwent its maiden voyage Tuesday.

The plane took off at Paine Field in Everett and landed at Boeing Field in Seattle after a two-hour flight.

According to the Everett Herald, the new 787 is longer than the original aircraft and can hold more passengers and travel at least 300 miles further than the 787-9.

The plane is slated to be in commercial operation by the middle of next year.
