Alleged attempted luring of 2 students in Tacoma reported
TACOMA -- The principal of Truman Middle School in Tacoma sent a letter to parents Monday about an alleged attempting luring of two students Monday morning.
"Two students reported that they were walking by Dairy Queen ... this morning on the way to school at approximately 7:45 a.m.," Truman principal Justina Johnson wrote in the letter. "Allegedly, a black male, medium to dark tone in his 20s-30s wearing a red sweatshirt with a TMS (Truman Middle School) logo on it and driving a white Honda pulled up to two of our students.
"He told the students he could give them a ride to school. When the students refused, he persisted, telling them to get in the car. The students ran off and the driver pulled away into the Safeway parking lot," Johnson wrote.
She urged parents to remind their children to use the buddy system and walk in groups, never get in a vehicle with a stranger, never walk alone in the dark, remain on school grounds during school hours and to immediately tell adults about suspicious activities or people.
