Storms, rain and cooler temps

Showers and isolated thunderstorms will be marching across Western Washington through tonight. Already, the National Weather Service in Seattle is reporting more than 1,000 lightning strikes in a single line of thunderstorms this morning.

An area of low pressure is stirring up the instability as it ejects out of Oregon and into our state. The marine layer has helped to keep a lid on some of the activity given its cool, stable nature. Unfortunately, that is set to burn off later this afternoon and we will be exposed to changes for storms by tonight.

.25” of rain looks to be the average where these cells hit, but some places could see upwards of an inch or so. Local ponding on area roadways is also a possibility along with breezy to windy conditions at times. Because these will be isolated in nature, not everyone will see heavy rain. By tomorrow, cooler temperatures and “showery” conditions will take over until Thursday. As of now, that day look dry with highs near 70 degrees.
