School’s in, snake’s out at local high school

ISSAQUAH — Insert your Slytherin and Lord Voldermort references now, people — a big snake is loose inside a local high school.

A 2- to 3-foot ball python escaped its cage inside a science classroom Wednesday morning, and teachers, school administrators and even animal control have yet to locate the slippery fellow.

According to administrator Lucy Mandel, a high school science teacher noticed the snake was missing early Wednesday. The teacher and school principal looked for the snake for hours before calling animal control. After animal control failed to locate the python the officer left, but not before offering tips on how staff and teachers might find the snake and where it was likely to be headed.

Administrators notified students of the missing snake and continued classes as normal.

Ball pythons are not venomous, typically docile and live in warm climates.

Two-points, Gryffindor.
