Mom allegedly kidnaps baby in borrowed car dispute

TACOMA -- A woman allegedly kidnapped a baby Wednesday morning as a way to get back at the baby's mother for borrowing her car and not returning it, the Tacoma News Tribune reported.

According to the News Tribune, the unidentified woman broke into a home in the 400 block of South Puget Sound early Wednesday morning and grabbed a 10-month-old boy from his crib. The woman allegedly told a man at the home that the mother could "have her baby back when I get my car back."

Police called to the scene were not immediatly able to find the suspect, or the baby's mother, the News Tribune reported. However, a woman living at the home was able to identify the suspect to police.

Police were about to issue an Amber Alert when the alleged kidnapper returned to her own home in Federal Way with with the kidnapped baby. Police detained the woman for questioning, and the baby was returned to his grandmother because his mother couldn't be found by police.
