HIV cure just around corner? OHSU researchers develop new vaccine
According to the Portland Business Journal, scientists at Oregon Health and Science University believe a vaccine being developed could have the potential to completely clear the virus from the body.
The vaccine candidate is being tested on a version of the virus that causes AIDS in monkeys. Research results suggest the vaccine may have the ability to completely remove HIV from the body.
OHSU hopes to test the vaccine on humans, but it could be two more years before clinical trials begin.
