'Poop into Paper' exhibit opens at the zoo

SEATTLE- There are three elephants at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle and each day, they produce 900 pounds of waste.

But Instead of throwing it away, zoo officials have decided to turn the waste into paper.

Each day, kids learn now to turn elephant poo into recycled paper. Zoo officials take the poo, steam it to kill all the bacteria, and blend it with shreds of recycled maps by spinning a bicycle-powered blender.

The exhibit opened recently, and kids and adults can participate in the poop into paper process. To learn more, click here.
