RAINY PASS, Wash - A 24-mile stretch of the North Cascades Highway (State Route 20) remains closed between Rainy Pass and Washington Pass, the Washington State Department of Transportation reported.  WSDOT said that heavy rains last week caused mud and rock slides to come down in several locations.  The highway remains closed and may not reopened until later this coming week.

The North Cascades Highway is closed between mile post 147 (10 miles west of Rainy Pass) to mile post 171 (9 miles east of Washington Pass).  Travelers can check for updates by calling the WSDOT hotline at 360-707-5055, or check the website: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Traffic/Passes/NorthCascades/.
