Undercover Seattle cops on lookout for unruly fans

SEATTLE -- We love that Seahawks fans are passionate and loud. But if that enthusiasm turns into intimidation, Seattle police say they will be watching.

Dominating the Raiders on the field was a must, but during Thursday night's game, Seattle police were on the lookout for Seahawks fans doing the same in the stadium.

The Seahawks are some analysts' Super Bowl favorites and the 12th Man knows it.

But police say that pride should never be scary.

“When they get that liquid courage is when they start to harass us,” said one Raiders fan.

Some Seahawks fans are getting a bad rep.

“Harassment, intimidation and poor behavior,” said Seattle police spokesman Sean Whitcomb.

Last season, Seattle police received numerous complaints of fan-on-fan violence in and out of the stadium.

“If you see someone wearing the opposition’s jersey that may be a police officer,” said Whitcomb.

“I think it’s a cool idea; I think they should be prepared to get a little razzing from people,” said Seahawks fan Dustin Hall.

Undercover officers disguised as rival fans will be ready to throw the flag if the talk turns trashy.

“I think they need that at every stadium to bring everyone in check,” said Raiders fan Doug Seguin.

One Seahawks fan came to the game armed with a sign that read "Fans Against Violence."

“Us as home team fans, we need to be more gracious, be more welcoming,” said Seahawks fan Jim Bo.

Police say competitive banter is fine.

If you are not sure what to say, you can always have a dance-off.
