7-Eleven clerk pistol whipped; cops search for suspect

photo (60)SEATTLE – Police are looking for an armed gunman who pistol whipped and robbed a 7-Eleven clerk Tuesday morning in North Seattle.

Officers were called to the convenience store in the 7200 block of Sand Point Way NE in Seattle around 3:20 a.m. According to police, a 6-foot tall black man wearing a mask entered the 24-hour store and robbed the store’s employee at gunpoint. He then struck the man in the face with the butt of his gun before running off.

The 7-Eleven clerk was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police briefly closed area roads to look for the suspect, but he wasn’t found. However, an undisclosed amount of cash that the suspect dropped was found near the scene.

Sand Point Way was reopened by 6 a.m. Robbery detectives are investigating the crime.
