Alajawan Brown remembered at school supplies giveaway

SKYWAY -  It was a special day for local school kids getting ready to go back to school - a day which celebrated the memory of a special young man, Alajawan Brown,  who was killed in a shooting three years ago.   The Alajawan Brown Foundation handed out 1200 backpacks and school supplies to needy kids at the Family Health and Safety Fair on Saturday in Skyway.

Alajawan Brown was fatally shot in the back by a gang member in 2010.  His parents. Louis and Ayanna Brown have chosen to keep their son't vision and goal to help other children in Skyway, where gangs and poverty are common.

"This is the third year where King County Fire District 20 and other community groups like the Alajawan Brown Foundation have come to help residents who maybe struggling to fill the back to school supply list, or don't have a bike helmet to ride safely to school, " said Dave Nelson, Skyway Fire spokesperson.
