Dangerous Cascade volcano barely monitored

SNOHOMISH COUNTY -- It's the second most dangerous volcano in the Cascade Range.  But scientists are barely monitoring it!  That's according to The Herald, which reports, there is only one seismic monitoring station on Glacier Peak.

Scientists call the mountain, near Darrington, a 'very high threat volcano.'  The peak, at 10,541 feet, has a long history of massive and devastating eruptions.   The Herald says there were plans to put five more monitors on it, but that's been postponed because of federal budget cuts, known as 'sequestration.'
