Chickens, ducks killed in barn blaze

Lacey Barn Fire

LACEY, Wash. -- At least 20 chickens and several ducklings were killed in a barn fire Thursday in South Puget Sound, firefighters said.

According to the Lacey Fire District, firefighters received calls of a blaze Thursday evening in the 7400 block of Johnson Road SE. Lacey Fire District Three responded and put out the blaze within 15 minutes, officials said.

No people were injured in the fire. However, 20 chickens and some ducklings housed in the barn were killed. Officials said the fire was caused by a warming lamp that came into contact with something flammable.

Lacey firefighters are investigating the blaze.
