Fire threatens 12 homes in Ocean Shores

OCEAN SHORES. Wash. -- A wind-whipped grass fire near the ocean threatened 12 homes Wednesday afternoon close to Ocean Shores, Washington's Department of Natural Resources said.

The fire near Butterclam Beach began Tuesday night. It quickly grew in the surrounding sand dunes to threaten area beach homes, and was visible from Highway 109 and Highway 105.

State and local crews are on hand to fight the blaze. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
