Bonney Lake girl still missing after daylong search

BONNEY LAKE -- Her name is Maliika Andrus. She's 17-years-old, but is said to have the mental capacity of a nine-year-old.

Andrus was last seen around 6:20 a.m. Sunday at a group home in the 18400 block of South Tapps Drive East.

Staff members believe she tampered with the alarm on her bedroom window and walked away in her pajamas. She is not familiar with the Bonney Lake area and needs medication. The is a fear that she may also try to hurt herself.

"A lot of times in these things we are able to search for a few hours and find people right away. When we get to the point that we’ve exhausted everything, we can we go to the media because she may be sitting in somebody’s house or somebody may see her and not know she’s missing,” Pierce County Sheriff’s detective Ed Troyer said.

Andrus was last seen wearing a black shirt and multicolored striped pajama pants.

She is 5-feet,6 inches tall and weighs 115 pounds. She wears her hair in braids and has brown eyes.

Anyone who has seen Andrus or know where she is asked call 911.
