Seattle drug store taps into growing market

SEATTLE -- The Bartell Drugs store in Seattle's South Lake Union neighborhood recently began selling growlers -- half-gallon jugs of local beers on tap -- and it was so popular that on the first Friday it began selling them, the store ran out of beer and had to call distributors for more.

A store manager said Bartell is the first drug store in the state of Washington to sell beer on tap.

The family owned Bartell Drugs was founded in Seattle in 1890. All 59 of its stores are located in Puget Sound neighborhoods.
