The boy’s father was doing CPR, but he was already unresponsive and unconscious when fire rescue crews arrived. He was loaded into an ambulance and taken to Holy Family Hospital, where he was ultimately declared dead.
The boy’s mother estimated that her son may have been in the trunk for up to an hour. The high in the neighborhood where he lived was about 93 degrees, and it could have been up to 30 degrees hotter than that inside the trunk of the vehicle he was found in.
The death is under investigation.
The boy would have turned 5 in September.
