Man allegedly shoots 2, leads cops on rural chase

SHELTON, Wash. -- Police arrested a suspect Tuesday night after he allegedly shot two people and led police on a car and foot chase in Mason County.

Shelton police were called at 7:08 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 1900 block of South 1st Street. Police said when they arrived, they spotted a vehicle fleeing the scene. Officers followed the vehicle until it crashed into a fence and a 53-year old suspect fled on foot. Officers caught up and arrested the suspect after a short foot chase through some woods.

Officers still at the original scene found a victim dead from apparent gunshot wounds and a second victim with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries to his hands and arms. The living victim was transported to Mason General Hospital for treatment, and was later released.

Police said the suspect and the victims got into some sort of argument early Tuesday night. The suspect allegedly left the home and returned with a gun and shot the two victims.

The suspect was booked into Mason County Jail on suspicion of first-degree homicide, attempted homicide and robbery.
