Criminal probe into mystery house fires at JBLM

A criminal investigation has been launched after five fires over the past three months at homes on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, the Lakewood-JBLM Patch reported. The fires displaced seven families through June, July and August.

Two of the fires were blamed on problems within the homes, such as misuse of electrical cords and faulty appliances, the Patch reported. The others are under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division and the Directorate of Emergency Services.

A town hall meeting was held Tuesday to address concerns of JBLM residents. Residents can call the JBLM Military Police at (253) 967-3107 or (253) 967-7112, or 911, to report suspicious activity.
