Free pet microchipping this weekend

SEATTLE -- Snohomish County pet owners can bring their dogs and cats to Langus Park in Everett Saturday for a free microchip. Up to 200 microchips will be offered at Everett's Mutt Strut, but the program is only available to Snohomish County residents.

The city is sponsoring the event as a way to reunite lost and stray pets with their owners, in turn reducing costs to city animal shelters.

Mutt Strut runs from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, Aug. 10, at Langus Park, 400 Smith Island Rd., across from the Everett Animal Shelter. Cats must be in a carrier and dogs must be on a leash.
