Port Angeles man sentenced to 13 years for child rape

PORT ANGELES -- A 33-year-old Port Angeles man who pleaded guilty to multiple counts of child rape has been sentenced to nearly 13 years in prison.

The Peninsula Daily News said Thursday that Michael Donald Stephens had been sentenced Tuesday in Clallam County Superior Court to 155 months in prison. He had pleaded guilty in June to three counts of second-degree child rape.

According to court documents cited by the newspaper, Stephens was alleged to have sexually and physically abused five children ranging in age from 9 to 15, whom he knew.

Police arrested Stephens after investigating a report of possible child abuse at a home in west Port Angeles on March 30.
