Crews use buckets to put out brush fire after property owner refuses access
Firefighters in Bremerton used an old-fashioned bucket brigade to put out a brush fire in the city’s watershed Monday night after a neighbor refused to let them drive a truck through his property.
According to the Kitsap Sun, crews from Bremerton’s Fire Station Two had to put the fire out by walking into the woods, dipping buckets into a stream, and then carrying them to the fire. That's after a property owner told them they couldn't drive a fire tanker truck filled with water across his land to access the watershed.
It took crews about two hours to put out the flames, which had spread to tree roots and bushes.
The Kitsap Sun reports crews arrived at the watershed around sunset and finished fighting the fire in the dark using flashlights.
