SEATTLE -- A woman in her 80s was robbed and sexually assaulted at knifepoint in the city's International District Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Officers are searching for the man caught on the surveillance video.

Police said that at about 1:57 p.m. officers responded to the report of an assault and robbery that occurred in the 200 block of 6th Avenue South.  The victim, a woman in her 80s, was physically and sexually assaulted and robbed, police said.

The victim had been walking in the back door of an apartment complex in the 200 block of 6th Avenue South when a man followed her inside, punched her in the head and body and knocked her to the ground.

He then got on top of her, and, while holding a knife against her body, he sexually assaulted her, police said. The man then stole the victim’s money before fleeing the scene on foot.

He is described as an unknown race, approximately six feet tall, 165 pounds with dark hair and last seen wearing a light-colored tank top, black pants, and a large necklace.  He was also carrying a black backpack.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where she remains under treatment for her injuries.
