Suspect arrested after found sleeping in stolen truck

SEATTLE -- A man was arrested early Monday morning after a parking enforcement officer discovered him sleeping in a stolen truck in SoDo. The officer was writing a ticket for the illegally parked truck when she spotted the man sleeping inside. When she input the truck's license plate information, it came back that the truck was stolen.

The truck was parked in a prohibited zone in the 100 block of 6th Avenue South.

The officer then radioed for assistance and as she was waiting for officers to arrive, a second man got into the truck's passenger side, the other man woke up and the two drove away. Officers stopped the truck at the intersection of 4th Avenue South and South Royal Brougham Way. The two men were then taken into custody.

The passenger was released after being interviewed by police. The driver was booked into King County Jail for investigation of possession of stolen property. Auto Theft Unit detectives are investigating.
