Manhunt ends in Sedro-Woolley child death case

SEDRO-WOOLLEY -- The man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a 4-year-old boy is in custody.

Now police are saying Trevor Braymiller didn't pull the trigger -- instead, the child's injuries were self-inflicted, allegedly using a weapon that belonged to Braymiller.

Cops said Braymiller surrendered just before 3 p.m. Monday in the Big Lake community after a nearly 36-hour search for the felon who fled the crime scene early Sunday morning.

“Mr. Braymiller has been taken into custody,” Sedro-Woolley Police Chief Doug Wood said.

At first cops thought Braymiller pulled the trigger – but on Monday, police reeled back and said the boy’s death was an accident.

“The initial medical reports that we have was that it was not a self-inflicted gunshot. The autopsy has been completed, although everything isn’t back, it’s indicated that it was a self-inflicted gunshot wound that killed the boy,” said Wood.

The case is still an active investigation. Braymiller could still be facing charges connected to possessing a firearm and possibly running from police.
