Downtown armed carjacking suspects at large

SEATTLE -- Police are searching for four suspects who carjacked a man at gunpoint at 2nd Avenue and Battery Street early Monday morning. The victim told police he was getting into his blue 2008 Audi A3 around 2 a.m., when he was approached from behind by four males in their teens to early 20s.

One of the suspects placed a handgun to the back of the victim's head and demanded his wallet, cash and car keys, police said. The suspects then went through the victim's pockets, taking his keys and wallet. At one point the victim tried to escape, but the suspects grabbed him, partially ripping his shirt off in the process.

The suspects left the scene in two vechiles -- the stolen car and a silver minivan -- and headed east on Battery Street and then northbound, possibly on 4th or 5th Avenue, police said.

The victim told police he did not know the suspects.
