U.S. soccer opens lottery for tickets to Mexico qualifier

(Los Angeles Times) -- The public can apply for tickets to the U.S. national team's Sept. 10 World Cup qualifier with Mexico in Columbus, Ohio.

Because of high demand for tickets, U.S. soccer is using a random draw in awarding the right to purchase tickets to the match at 20,000-seat Columbus Crew Stadium.

The public application window will be open until July 22 at 11:59 EDT. Applicants may request a maximum of four tickets. A computer program will randomly select the names of those who will be allowed to buy tickets and those applicants will be notified by July 30.

Special VIP packages for the game, including accommodations at the team hotel, access to a training session, a game day luncheon and access to the field before and after the game are also available.
