Sunday school teacher arrested in child porn investigation

SHELTON -- There are shocking allegations against a local Sunday school teacher who is now under arrest.

Kevin Schultz faces felony child porn possession and child exploitation charges after cops say he sent pictures of his genitals to an 11-year-old girl. And what’s worse, the victim knows the suspect – she went to his Mason County church in Shelton.

It all started when the young girl’s mother said she found hundreds of text messages and pictures on her daughter’s cell phone – that’s when she called police.

Cops say Schultz sent images of his genitals to the young girl and somehow he was able to get her to send him naked pictures of herself, too.

Schultz volunteered at the Bethel Assembly of God children’s ministries for about two years. Church officials said they are cooperating fully with police during this investigation.

Pastor John Pierce said, “It is our understanding that the incident took place outside of church ministries and is currently under investigation by law enforcement. The individual has been removed from involvement with all volunteer roles until the matter is resolved. “

Schultz’s bail was set at $50,000 and his next court appearance is July 22. Police and the victim’s mom worry there could be other victims out there. Police said more charges could be coming.
