2-year-old cancer patient has pizza party thanks to the Internet

Hazel Hammersley's hospital room was swamped with pizzas after putting a sign "SEND PIZZA RM 4112" in her window.

LOS ANGELES -- A little girl with cancer got an unexpected pizza party after joking about wanting pizza.

Hazel Hammersley, 2, and her family chopped up medical tape and put a sign in their hospital room reading: "SEND PIZZA RM 4112." They thought it would be something fun that would brighten someone's day.

A few days later, a picture of the pizza request made it to Reddit and donations of pizzas poured in.

In the end, more than 20 pizzas were sent to Hazel's room at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.

"Hazel woke up from her nap to the smell of pizza and was so excited to chow down!" Her mother, Lauren Hammersley, wrote on her family's blog, Our Little Hazelnut. "Several other children and nurses came into the room, with music playing, and had themselves a wonderful Pizza Party. We have been absolutely humbled and surprised by the outpouring of love and support...and can only hope and pray that this brings awareness to the Neuroblastoma and the Childhood Cancer Community."

"I truly felt that God used this wonderful day to help lift, not only our families, but everyone on the 4th floor's spirits. We all need a little hope up here."
