HOQUIAM, Wash. -- A Grays Harbor sheriff's deputy driving a marked patrol car crossed the center line in a head-on collision with another car Monday night, the Washington State Patrol said.

The 55-year-old deputy was in a marked police car around 8 p.m. when he crossed the center line while traveling northbound on State Route 109 10 miles north of Hoquium. The officer's 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe slammed into a 2002 Kia Sportage driven by a 30-year-old female.

Both the deputy and the woman were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Alcohol or drugs were not involved in the incident, troopers said.  SR 109 was closed for four hours following the crash.

Troopers are investigating the cause of the collision.
