Emotional Independence Day for new citizens in Seattle

SEATTLE --  Brought to smiles and tears as the "Star Spangled Banner" played, 487 of the nation's newest patriots took the oath of office on Independence Day Thursday.

It was also an emotional ceremony for Gov. Jay Inslee, according to The Seattle Times.

His cousin, Jennifer Inslee, married a Vietnamese woman in April at the governor's mansion. Star Rush, 45, was among those sworn in at the ceremony.

The new U.S. citizens come from 86 countries; most of them hail from South Korea, the Philippines and Mexico.
