More women dying from painkiller overdoses than car crashes

SEATTLE -- A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention sheds light on a “growing epidemic, especially among women.”

The report finds that deaths from prescription painkiller overdoses have increased 400 percent since 1999 for women.The CDC says about 18 women die every day as a result of a painkiller overdose.
