Suspect allegedly head-butts, assaults SPD officer

SEATTLE -- A female police officer is recovering after being assaulted by a 20-year-old male suspect late Sunday night.

According to Seattle police, officers responded to reports of two people fighting at 11:39 p.m. outside Seattle Fire Department Station 28 in the 5900 block of Rainier Avenue South. Police arrived on the scene and contacted two men, but one of the men allegedly took off running. When officers caught up with him, he allegedly head-butted a female officer in the face and knocked her backwards into some bushes.

Others officer subdued the man and he was quickly arrested. The female officer was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to her face.

The suspect will be booked into the King County Jail for felony assault on a police officer, police said.
