Bicyclist killed in collision with car

NEAR WOODINVILLE - A man in his 60's died after a collision with a car near Woodinville, the Snohomish County Sheriff's office reported.  The man was on his bicycle in the 6500 block of 240th Street Southeast around 11 a.m. Saturday, when the collision occured, Lieutenant Rob Palmer with the Sheriff's office said.

The man died at the scene of the collision from injuries received, Palmer said.  Investigators believe that the bicyclist collided with an oncoming vehicle, when he attempted to pass other cyclists ahead of him.  The bicyclist is believed to be from Kent, Washington.

The driver of the car was reportedly cooperating with investigators.  Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the collision and the driver will probably not be charged, Palmer said.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and release the identity of the victim.
