BELLEVUE — A 35-year-old woman who failed to show up for work Monday was found dead inside her home. Friday, Bellevue police said they arrested a 46-year-old Edmonds man in connection with the murder. The man was arrested in Los Angeles and is being held there pending extradition by California authorities.
Court documents identify the woman as Nataliya Vabishchevich, 35. Bellevue police said her death was the first homicide of the year.
Police said that when Vabishchevich didn’t show up for work Monday morning, a co-worker checked on her at her home, found her dead and called police at 11:54 a.m..
Neighbor Erica Bartram said she was couldn’t believe all the police cars and crime scene tape.
“I was shocked. I mean I’ve seen police cars here a few times, but it was scary to see how many people were out here.”
Police assured nearby residents that there was no threat and there was not an “active shooter” in the area.
“My heart goes out to her family. I don’t know, I’m a little nervous. I’m hopeful I’m not in any danger,” Bartram said.
