Boeing orders continue to fly in at air show
PARIS -- Boeing announced and finalized orders for more than 200 airplanes Wednesday at the Paris Air Show.
Boeing and Ryanair finalized an order for 175 Next-Generation 737-800 airplanes valued at $15.6 billion at the popular air show. The order, originally announced as a commitment in March, is Boeing's largest ever order from a European airline. Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO Ray Conner and CEO of Ryanair Michael O'Leary celebrated the historic deal, with O'Conner calling the order a "testament" to the value of the 737.
"As the most efficient, reliable, large single-aisle airplane flying today, the Next-Generation 737 has been and will continue to be the cornerstone of the Ryanair fleet," O'Conner said.
In addition to finalizing the large deal, Boeing also announced an order for 30 737 MAX 8s from the CIT Group Inc, an aircraft leasing company. CIT owns a fleet of about 128 Boeing planes.
Oman Air also announced their plans to purchase five Boeing Next-Generation 737-900ER planes, valued at $437 million list price.
