Metro bus cuts, not that bad...yet
SEATTLE-- The city of Seattle is backing off some cuts to bus service.
Officials said a program called "Bridging the Gap" has more money than originally thought Monday night.
Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn and King County Metro General Manager Kevin Desmond announced the city is buying more than 5,000 hours of added service per year through early 2016 on nine high ridership bus routes.
Metro said the addition will cut wait times down at non-peak times, depending on the route and time of day.
Metro is still facing a $75 million annual shortfall.
The agency still plans a 17 percent cut to service next year.
