Man robs, cuts woman outside bank in north Seattle

SEATTLE -- A knife-wielding man robbed a woman while she was attempting to make a night deposit at a Bank of America branch in the 400 block of NE Northgate Way Sunday, police said. During a struggle, the thief cut the woman’s hand.

Seattle police said the incident happened at around 7:45 p.m.

Police said a man was waiting in a hallway area on the south side of the bank near the night deposit box. The woman approached the box to make a deposit, and the man tried to start up a conversation, which the victim ignored.

“The suspect then took hold of the victim’s deposit bag with his right hand while holding a knife in his left hand. The suspect demanded the money and threatened to stab the victim. The victim resisted, and during the struggle that ensued, the victim was cut on on the hand. The suspect fled the scene on foot with the deposit bag and the victim’s wallet,” police said in a statement.

Mall security followed the suspect as he ran out the exit door.  The suspect was seen getting into a black car that was occupied by one other person.  The suspects fled the scene in the vehicle and remain at large.

Seattle Fire Department medics responded to the scene and treated the victim for her non-life-threatening injury.

The suspect is described as a very thin built white man in his 30s, 5’10″ tall, last seen wearing a black baseball cap, an Alexander Seahawks jersey and black baseball cap.
