Students remember classmate shot and killed while celebrating her birthday

SEATTLE -- Students at  Bishop Blanchet High School took time to remember former classmate Molly Conley Monday morning, a few days after she was shot and killed in what appeared to be a random act of violence.

Monday services at the school followed a prayer service Sunday meant to honor Conley, who many say was an amazing student and could light up a room.

"She was really nice and its going to be a sad day without, she was in by beginning acting and intermediate acting and she would always light up my day if i was sad and make me laugh and tell me jokes but she was just a kind- hearted person and she will be missed,"Joey Capestany, a ninth grader, said Sunday.

Conley was celebrating her 15th birthday with friends in Lake Stevens around 11 p.m. Saturday night when authorities said her and a friend were walking along South Lake Stevens Road. In a random act of violence, someone drove toward the group in a black SUV and shot into the group. Conley was struck in the neck and died from her injuries. Other members of the group were uninjured.

Conley was described as the heart of the school.

“Our time with Molly at Bishop Blanchet High School was a blessing for us," Antonio DeSapio, president of Bishop Blanchet, said. "She gave her all to this community. She was a 4.0 student and an active member of sports, and drama, and basically everything we had to offer here at Bishop Blanchet High School. We will deeply, deeply miss her."
