Car packed with 7 teens crashes, sends 5 to hospital

SEDRO-WOOLLEY - A small car packed with seven teenagers crashed Monday morning in Sedro-Woolley.

The car was travelling eastbound on Hoehn Road around 1:30 a.m. when the driver of the crowded car failed to negotiate a curve. Washington State Patrol Trooper Mark Francis said the driver of the Chevy Cruze, a 34-year-old man from Marysville, was the lone adult in the crash. He was allegedly high on drugs, police said.

Francis said seven teens ranging from 16 to 18 years old were packed into the car.

Five people were transported to hospitals in Mount Vernon and Sedro-Woolley.  Three were in serious condition Monday morning. It is unknown if they were wearing seatbelts.

The driver was arrested for DUI and will be booked on vehicular assault charges.
