Barefoot Bandit: ‘I will have a beautiful life’

banditSEATTLE — Colton “the Barefoot Bandit” Harris-Moore wrote Thursday that he has learned from his past “lessons” and that once he is released from prison he intends to “have a beautiful life.”

As part of a plea deal, Harris-Moore on Wednesday admitted to a burglary charge in Skagit County Court in return for a sentence of three months’ jail time already-served — in other words, no new time.

The notorious bandit previously pleaded guilty to more than 40 felonies he committed during a two-year crime spree that ended in 2010. He was sentenced to more than 6 1/2 years in prison at that time.

On Thursday, one of Harris-Moore’s lawyers, Lance Rosen, released a handwritten note that the convict had planned to deliver in Skagit County Court Wednesday, but didn’t get the opportunity. Here is the note:

“The past is a story absolutely separate from the future. The past holds experiences and lessons I’ll learn from for the rest of my life, but my future is precisely what I make it. If there is any truth I’ve learned, it is that absolutely anything is possible. When this experience is over and I regain my freedom, I will bring everything I am working toward into reality. I am working with amazing people, and I will have a beautiful life.”
