issaquah home intruder shootingISSAQUAH — An intruder was shot shortly before 1 p.m. Friday after he broke into a home in the 18500 block of Northwest Montreux Drive, police said.

The homeowner was the home when he told police he heard someone ringing the doorbell. When he looked outside, he didn’t recognize the man ringing the bell, so he didn’t answer the door.

The 56-year-old homeowner said that shortly after, the suspect threw something through the home’s glass front door and came into the house. The two men then struggled and the homeowner fired two shots from his handgun, hitting the suspect once in the shoulder.

A delivery truck driver witnessed the incident, heard the gun being fired and called 911. Police arrived at the home and took the suspect to Harborview Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. The homeowner was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Burglars are not very smart – don't they read the news?. Criminals are getting shot and happens several times a month. Get a job.

Or stand on a corner with a sign like the other thieves who lie about their circumstances to guilt the working class for $$ to get you through your supposed hard times..

Happening a lot around here. Burglars ring doorbell and breaks in if no one answers. Good job, 1 less burglar for now. Better aim next time.

hmm, you'd think they'd catch on… wonder how many psycho home owners are waiting for someone they don't know hand gun ready intentionally not answering door for opportunity to waste someone?
Cause we no the burglars are not smart, I say smart money on seeing more stories like this.
Should a home owner now answer the door with their handgun so there is no opportunity for a snake defendant lawyer to suggest the homeowner baited the burglar by not opening the door?

Crazy times, seems like that's the way our military is being led around too, state department, justice on all the premise of protecting the rights of the guilty over ensuring first the rights of the law abiding citizen. Wouldn't surprise me to hear a lawyer argue this baiting done by homeowner by not opening door. I can see it now concerned citizen knocked on door had cause to believe something wrong when door was not answered and broke in to help the homeowner whom attacked him.

Protecting yourself is crazy? He broke a window and WENT INSIDE a property that he had no business being at. Then continued to get physical with the home owner… If someone breaks into your home and tries to rape your wife/daughter/mother are you just going to get a bag of popcorn and watch? Not everyone who has a gun is itching to shoot someone. Narrow mindedness isn't either political side, that's person dependent and you reek of it. There should be a required intelligence test before being allowed to access the internet.

no one said protecting yourself is crazy, the only reference to crazy made was the times where evil is called good and good evil, the craziness is having the tables turned on the home owner being blamed by a defendants lawyer that home owner baited the defendant to enter the home cause he didn't answer and it lead the defendant to believe the homeowner was in duress and needed assistance thus breaking in to render aide only to be attacked by the home owner.

Does that make sense to you know

Another one bites the dust!!! One more petty criminal who just might think the next time he tries to rob someone………..and he undoubtedly will try again, simply because he is rather stupid and probably illiterate, and really dense.

This guy had stolen a motorcycle from my girlfriends neighbor week or so earlier and the bike was found after this incident. Thanks Mr homeowner!
