Crews to break ground on SeaTac light rail extension

lightrail1SEATAC-  Crews will break ground Friday on the light rail extension project south of the Sea-Tac International Airport.

The S. 200th link extension includes a 1.6 mile elevated guideway and a station with garage parking, bicycle and pedestrian improvements, a plaza area and public art.

Service is scheduled to begin in late 2016– the same time rail service from downtown Seattle to the University of Washington begins.

Sound Transit will be holding a groundbreaking ceremony Friday. Governor Jay Inslee and U.S. Senator Patty Murray are expected to attend.
