Blind WWII vet, longtime fan to announce Seahawks pick at NFL Draft

SEATTLE --  A World War II veteran who has been a Seahawks season ticket holder since 1976 will be the team’s representative at Radio City Music Hall to announce its fourth-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Lloyd Fields joined the Army Air Corps in 1941 at the age of 20, commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant. He flew 25 missions over occupied Europe and Germany during WWII and later commanded an assortment of Air Force squadrons and participated in secret reconnaissance missions over the Soviet Union.

Fields retired from the Air Force in 1967 as a lieutenant colonel. After beginning to gradually lose his eyesight, Fields lost his eyesight completely in 2002, but continues attending Seahawks games, feeling the energy of the crowd in the stadium and listening to Steve Raible's play-by-play on the radio broadcast.

A resident of Bellevue, Fields will be accompanied in New York by his wife and family.
