Cops find up to 1 million child porn videos in Fla. man's basement

ORLANDO, Fla. (WPIX) -- A man arrested in Florida had between 500,000 and 1 million full-length child pornography movies in his house — the largest collection in the state’s history, according to police Friday.

Police said on Thursday they arrested John Shearen, 51, in the basement of his house doing what he most likely often did — watching one of the movies.

“He is the No. 1 person that can distribute child pornography throughout the world,” Special Agent Jeff Duncan said. “And he’s been doing it.”

Most of the movies were stored on several computers and external hard drives in his home 45 miles outside of Orlando.  Especially troubling for investigators was the discovery of children’s clothing inside the home.  Shearen claimed that he liked to dress up in it, but Duncan called that “virtually impossible”.

Shearen is being held in the Lake County Jail, according to WPTV, and faces 15 counts of possession of child porn, and 15 counts of distribution.  Those tallies could rise as the investigation continues.
