14-year-old passenger killed as car lands upside down in creek

SEABECK — A 14-year-old Seabeck boy was killed Thursday night when the car he was riding in left the road, plunged down a ravine and landed on its roof in a creek.

The single-car collision occurred on Seabeck Holly Road just before 11 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.

Daunte Peterson was pronounced dead at Harrison Medical Center.

The victim, Daunte Peterson, was riding in the car with an 18-year-old and a 21-year-old. After the car went down the ravine and landed on its roof, the men were able to crawl out of the vehicle but Peterson was trapped as the car started filling with water, authorities said.

Fire and medic crews were able to get him out and began performing CPR on the scene, but he later died at the hospital.

They did try. They kept trying to get him out but his legs were trapped. He was step-brother to one of the boys. Don't judge until you know all of the facts.

He was an amazing kid and meant so much to many people. He will always be remembered. I love you Daunte. I will miss you. We all will. Now that we don’t get to see you anymore, I hope that god enjoys the time he gets to spend with you like I did and everyone else.<3

Yes and on Wed nite 4 teenage girls flipped over in their car on River Road in Puyallup. 3:30 AM all under the age of 18 and drunk. WHERE are the parents of these kids? There are "dead signs" (as my granddaughter calls them) all along River Road…people drive too fast and too drunk. Just sayin'!

It makes my heart ache for Dante's family and the two men who survived this terrible tragedy. I have a 16 year old son and I can't imagine the pain of such a loss! I hope they get all the support and love they need right now.
