MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — A project manager at Boeing is acting as a mentor to Colton Harris-Moore, the “Barefoot Bandit” who’s serving a seven-year sentence for stealing cars, boats and planes.

Colton Harris-Moore, a baby-faced 20-year-old from Camano Island who earned the nickname ‘Barefoot Bandit’ because he committed some crimes in his bare feet, pleaded guilty in 2012 to 40 felony charges from his infamous 2008-2010 crime spree in which he stole planes, boats and cars across the United States. He was eventually apprehended in July 2010 in the Bahamas after crashing a stolen plane there. Prosecutors said they took into account Harris-Moore’s rough childhood in agreeing to a sentence of just 6 1/2 years for crimes that resulted in $1.3 million in losses to victims.
