Presidents Day: What’s open, what’s closed

presidentSEATTLE — As we approach the nation’s 128th Presidents Day celebrating President George Washington’s birthday, one question lingers on most of our minds: What’s open and what’s closed?

Below is a list of government buildings, stores and other services that are opened or closed for Presidents Day. Remember, parking in Seattle is free on Monday because it is a federal holiday.

  • U.S. Post offices. No Mail delivery
  • All Seattle public and private schools
  • Seattle Public Library locations
  • King county Library Systems
  • Seattle Parks and Recreation pools
  • King County offices
  • Banks
  • Credit unions
  • Seattle City offices
  • Seattle water taxi

Open 

  • Washington State Ferries
  • Metro Transit (operating on normal schedule)
  • Sound Transit
  • Central Link light-rail
  • Garbage pickup
  • Community transit
  • Pierce County Transit
  • Shopping malls
  • State-run liquor stores
