LONGVIEW, Wash. — An 82-year-old former Puyallup High School football player got into a “cross-body block” to stop a suspect fleeing from police Friday afternoon in Longview, Wash.
Terry Miracle was weeding his garden when he heard a lot of commotion coming his way. That’s when he spotted a 27-year-old man running from the police.
“I was right about here and I saw it,” Miracle said. “That’s just exactly the right angle that if I run right over here I’ll be able to meet him with a cross body block and put him down,” Miracle said Sunday.
Miracle’s block was enough to stop the suspect, a convicted felon, in his tracks. The suspect got up and started to run, but police were on him in Miracle’s yard.
The 27-year-old was booked on suspicion of second-degree burglary, third degree theft, trespassing and third degree malicious mischief.
Miracle was uninjured — mostly — from Friday’s tackle.
“I’m a little sore,” he said Sunday.

great story. Way to go Mr Miracle. It's too bad more people don't have sense of decency and willingness to do the right thing.
